Lucid Excess Wear & Use Guidelines
Understand What Qualifies as Excess Wear and Use
To ensure every returned vehicle is evaluated fairly and consistently at lease end, Lucid Financial Services uses official Lucid Excess Wear & Use Guidelines. Learn more about what is considered normal use, which does not incur additional charges, and what kinds of excess wear and use could result in additional lease-end charges.
These guidelines apply to all returned Lucid vehicles and are followed by our inspection partner, OPENLANE (formerly AutoVIN) during pre-lease-end and post-lease-return inspections.
Tip: Scheduling your pre-lease-end inspection at least three months before your lease ends will help identify items you may wish to have repaired before returning your vehicle.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who determines whether damage is chargeable?
All inspections are performed by OPENLANE, an independent inspection company using standardized criteria. Lucid Financial Services then reviews this report and cross-references our Excess Wear & Use Guidelines to create your final bill.
Are small scratches or wheel scuffs considered excess wear?
Generally, light surface scratches smaller than a credit card and minor curb rash up to 1 inch are considered normal wear. Larger or deeper damage may be chargeable. See our Excess Wear & Use Guidelines for full details.
Can I repair damage myself before returning my vehicle?
Yes, as long as any repairs are professional and meet Lucid’s standards. Improper or mismatched repairs can themselves be considered chargeable.
What about windshield chips or cracks?
Scratches, chips, pits, or cracks in the windshield or other glass surfaces are considered chargeable. If your insurance covers glass repair, we recommend completing it before your return appointment.
Will I be charged for normal tire wear?
As long as each tire meets Lucid’s original specifications, has at least 4/32″ tread depth, and matches the others on its axle, wear is considered normal and is not chargeable.
What if I disagree with the post-lease-return inspection findings and my final bill?
After you’ve received your lease-end bill, you may file a dispute. Contact Lucid Financial Services at +1 (833) 423-0369 to review your bill or file a formal dispute.
